The aim of the COVID-19 ID project is to improve people’s health literacy about COVID-19 by providing accurate and up-to-date information to increase knowledge, understanding and confidence and enable people to make good health decisions. The work of the Project is outlined below:
A-Z Guide of COVID-19 Words and Terms
The language of COVID-19 can be confusing with many new words and terms being used that we may never have seen or heard before. To support people's understanding and improve health literacy in relation to COVID-19 we compiled an A-Z glossary of COVID-19 words and terms with plain English explanations. We regularly update the guide with new words and terms and links to official information and guidance. Find it here.
Disseminating Official Information
CDHN is viewed as a trusted and respected source of information by our extensive membership base. Building on our existing relationships with Health and Social Care Board (HSCB), Public Health Agency (PHA) Department of Health (DoH) and the five Health and Social Care Trusts we worked together to provide timely and accurate information in relation to COVID-19.
We used our existing networks, social media platforms and communication channels (website, ezine) to share important public health information and guidance. We continue to post official and fact-checked information from our Facebook page and Twitter pages, please like and share our posts.
Identifying gaps in information for people in communities and counteracting misinformation
Using our close links with communities and seeking people's views and experiences we identified what information was most relevant to people in relation to COVID-19, where gaps existed, or misinformation was taking place. We used this information to help inform and shape our work and support the work of HSCB in promoting relevant public health messages and information.
Fact-checked articles
Working with FactcheckNI we produced several fact-checked articles on relevant issues and topics of interest.
