Community Development and Health Network (CDHN) is delighted to announce the successful applicants in the latest round of Building the Community-Pharmacy Partnership (BCPP) Level 1 funding.  The Programme is led by CDHN and funded by the Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) and supports communities and Community Pharmacist

A PhD student at the Centre for Public Health, Queens University Belfast put out a call for volunteers aged over 65 years to take part in a study to investigate the association between diet, body composition, physical function and risk of frailty.  The study involved attending the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Facility at Belfast City Hospital on one occasion for approximately two hours.

The Public Health Agency (PHA) has commissioned Community Development & Health Network (CDHN) to develop and deliver a new programme of support for the community, voluntary and public sectors. Other partners in the Elevate programme include Rural Community Network, Prospect Awards and Community Evaluation NI.

Menopause – THE Hot Topic

Rural Health Partnership along with Northern Pharmacies received a Level 2 BCPP grant of £10,000 from CDHN for a Menopause Matters programme. The project aims to support women to cope and manage menopause addressing issues around mental, emotional and physical wellbeing and increasing awareness of the impact of the menopause on those experiencing it.

The Public Health Agency has commissioned the Community Development & Health Network (CDHN) to develop and deliver a new programme of support for the community, voluntary and public sectors. Elevate will provide opportunities for the development of skills, knowledge and expertise in community development as a way to tackle health inequalities.

The Public Health Agency co-hosted its bi-annual conference for stakeholders with CDHN on Wednesday 20th March 2019 at Craigavon Civic Centre on the theme ‘Expansion of Community Development Approaches’.

According to the National Childbirth Trust (NCT), the first 1,000 days of a child’s life are the most important.  NCT is the UK’s largest charity of parents providing information and support during pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood.
