Project summary
Carrick YMCA was formed as a cross denominational youth organization committed to Christian social action in the local community. Presently they have four community projects working principally with marginalised young people and their families.
They have completed four level two projects and seek to build on their learning with a level three project working with parents and teenagers in Glenfield, Castlemara, Woodburn and Sunnyland. They have also identified a gap in older people who could benefit from being engaged in a BCPP programme. The aim is to work with three core groups (a different one each year of the programme) to work in partnership with a local pharmacist to increase each group's understanding of health issues. They will build capacity to engage with other service providers and community groups by increasing their skills and enncouraging wider community involvement through active citizenship and healthier lifestyles.
