To improve participant's community development knowledge and practice, focusing on project design and implementation and how to effectively monitor and evaluate projects.
Level 2 will begin with a brief overview of Level 1 including community development (CD) values and principles, the social model of health and the social determinants of health and an introduction to health inequalities. Level 2 will focus on the values and principles of community development and (using the new Occupational Standards for CD) challenge participants to examine their values and practice from 3 perspectives: as individual practitioners; from an organisational perspective and at a community level.
A full and comprehensive understanding of community development, particularly in relation to tackling health inequalities, will enable participants to improve how they design and deliver interventions at local level and challenge them to examine the evidence base and the future direction of their work. Level 2 will incorporate a CDHN networking event each time it is run.
